Jessica F. Brown – Band Director & Music Educator
Jessica F. Brown is a passionate and dedicated music educator and performer with a wealth of experience across a variety of musical disciplines. Currently serving as the Band Director for the Babcock Cornet Band, Jessica began her musical journey as a substitute member playing the flute. Her enthusiasm and skill quickly led her to an official playing position, where she played a pivotal role in assisting with the 2024 winter season as a conductor.
In May 2025, Jessica will make her debut as a Community Band Director, a significant milestone in her career. Her conducting experience spans a wide range of settings, including elementary and honors middle school ensembles, as well as private school middle school and elementary school groups. She has also led numerous sectionals for both instrumental and choral groups, showcasing her versatility as an educator.
Currently, Jessica teaches in New Haven, where she conducts 5th-8th grade String Orchestra and Band ensembles. A strong advocate for diversity in music, Jessica has partnered with Yale's Music Initiative Program to bring more diverse musical experiences to her school, fostering a rich and inclusive musical community. Her innovative approach to teaching has helped her students excel, with many achieving recognition in regionals, all-state, and all-city bands, both through school and private lessons.
In addition to her work in education, Jessica is an accomplished performer. She plays in the Woodstock Cornet Band, Willimantic Orchestra, and performed with the Wesleyan University Orchestra during their 2024 winter season. She is also an active member of the Windham Concert Band, where she serves as secretary and librarian, and plays flute and piccolo as the section leader.
With her diverse range of experience, leadership skills, and passion for music, Jessica is poised to make a lasting impact as a Community Band Director and continues to inspire the next generation of musicians through her work, both in and outside the classroom.
